Profile
The Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, was established on Saturday Kliwon, November 10, 1962, by Ir. Sidharta, Ir. Haditirto, and Dipl. Ing. Hoemar Tjokrodihatmo as its first lecturers. Ir. Sidharta had a vision that Indonesia needed many qualified architects with strong technical competence, sensitivity to various social issues, and a refined aesthetic sense.
In his view, an architect is a professional technician who possesses the character of an artist in creating spaces and the built environment.
Throughout its development, the Architecture Department of Undip initiated the Undergraduate Program (S1) in Planology (now Urban and Regional Planning) at Undip in 1992 and the Diploma III Program in Architectural Design in 2000 to expand the contribution of architectural education in Indonesia.
In 2013, the Department of Architecture began implementing a more efficient and effective integration of academic pathways from undergraduate to postgraduate levels within the Faculty of Engineering. Since then, the Department has managed the Undergraduate Program (S1) in Architecture, the Master’s Program (S2) in Architecture established in 1994, and the Doctoral Program (S3) in Architecture and Urban Studies established in 2003.
